Uruguayan Merino wool dyed by handcraft 100purewool is a company devoted to the artisanal dyeing of 100% natural fibers. We work with premium quality merino, made with a very soft and light wool, which you could use on your projects with great delight, making garments you can use with complete confidence, enjoying the purity and the style of the best merino that our country exports. On Uruguay, sheeps roam in complete freedom, feeding with natural pastures produced by the appropiate wet weather, which makes our soils very fertile. Country people loves animals and take a lot of care for them, since they are part of their living, and that they live and share the same piece of land. Apart from the sensitive treatment of animals, there are stricts control on cattle, which is the foundation of a high international qualification that our wool has gained worldwide. 100purewool is a business that came from a family with a lot of experience in the textile industries. Inmigrants from Galicia - Spain, our greatgrandparents and grandparents were country people, and their passion for nature were transmitted to us by our parents. Our generation has taken that heritage, and adapted it to a new way of international commerce through online commerce. For the past 8 years we have conducted this family business that grew and expanded on the internet market, both for the beauty of our products as well as for the special, kind personal attention we have with every client. Our skeins can be used in many different proyects; knitting, crochet, or felting... For their properties, it is great for children and baby garments, or for people with sensitive skin, not only for the softness of the product, but because we use inks approved by the OEKO TEX. The colours are firm, resistant to repetivitive washing, and with no hint of toxic agents. Our dyeing is completely artisanal. Dyed on a pot, and taking care of each stage of the process. The drying is done on the outdoors, with no washing machine harming the product or the environment. It is stocked in a clean and smoking free warehouse. The wool you receive on your hands is the product of a collective, ecologic, work, and a genuine form of expression of our traditional culture. We invite you to see our great color variety of colours on the different weights: worsted weight single ply (218 yards), worsted weight 3 plies (218 yards), fingering weight (440 yards) and lace weight (950 yards). The photos were taken on a professional studio, because we want you to trust that what you see will be what you will receive. Each skein was designed and tested before releasing it, and each skein sold is controlled before being packed.
